Spirit animal? I’m not sure, i’m waiting for it to reveal itself to me
Who are you listening to right now? Are these artists that influence your sound?
I’m listening to a lot of Pink Floyd and Lady Gaga. yes totally they influence my sound!
Can you talk us through your creative process of Evil Twin?
A lot of it was done in my bedroom. 90% of the vocals were cut in my room at home. I worked with a lot of collaborators remotely too, including Joel Little, Cirkut, Jason Evigan, Silver Sphere, Leland, Zach Seamen, and Roger Kleinman.
Do you feel as though you have approached this EP differently as to when you wrote 'Isaacs Insects'?
Definitely! The main difference is that i didn’t write isaac’s insects during a pandemic. It was a hard transition but honestly I feel more secure in evil twin because i’ve had more time to cultivate a detailed plan in regards to the release.
You mentioned on Twitter that half of the new EP is written by your alter ego, do you feel more in touch with this side of yourself since finalising this body of work?
Yes i do. i’m waiting for the day that my alter ego and my day to day ego combine into one. you’ll meet that person when i drop my debut album
We believe the culture our generation breeds is vital for positive growth and change in this world. As a young creative, what do you think is important for us all to be doing right now? How do fellow creatives and allies positively educate themselves and others?
I think it’s important we take this time as an opportunity for self improvement, at least that’s what i’ve been doing. listen to the voices of those who have been silenced for so long. go to therapy. literally anything that can make the world a better place, do it. for the sake of yourself and for the sake of me.
Is there anything you have been doing in particular that has helped you when you've had doubts or felt alone?
I’ve been really lonely as of late. all i can do is find security in myself and be there for myself. i literally stand in front of my mirror every day and tell myself all the positive things i want to hear from others, and it’s been helping a bit.
How do you practice resilience in this digital age?
I get off my phone
What is the key to making yourself thrive and grow within a creative space?
Being secure in who you are is the key to thrive in any space, period
What can we expect from you in the coming months?
More music, cute merch and cool videos
