SPLICED 2020
This photographic series encompasses the concept of up-cycling. The two sets of outfits were created through reinterpretation of the textiles' previous form. The climate of the fast turnover rates and high quantity of discarded fashions is terrifying. Yet this paves way for an opportunity. An opportunity for rebellion.
Against the tides of fast fashion, an ability for self-expression emerges. To mix and match, split and splice the materials, silhouettes and colours pave way for one to really show their inside out. The importance of self-expression is boundless. There is no reason to hold back on who you are or what you stand for. And the first step into that shell of confidence is that thin piece of fabric between our bodies and the world. Thus, through the photographs, the up-cycled clothes start to embody the character of the person they cover.
Also, highlighting that there is no reason for the the chic-a-booti top you bought 5 years ago to not be stylish.
